Esotropia
D came to us as a 7 month old with eyes that turned in (esotropia) and a droopy left upper lid (ptosis).
Because of the eye turn and the eyelid distorting her left cornea (causing astigmatism), D had vision loss of the left eye (amblyopia). We treated her with glasses to straighten her eye and improve her left eye vision loss (amblyopia). When glasses alone did not work for the amblyopia, she used a patch. When the vision of the left eye equaled the right eye, she had strabismus surgery #1 to straighten her eyes. Her eyes were straight for a while, then turned outwards (uh-oh!) So she had strabismus surgery #2 to correct the out-turning of the eye.
Finally, D and her family wanted to correct the droopy left upper eyelid. So we did this last summer. Today’s photo shows the result of her strabismus and ptosis surgeries.
D is VERY HAPPY & so is her family!
