Why Does All That Training Matter For a Child?
Because a child's eye examination isn't always just a vision test.
A child who doesn't see well may simply need glasses. But decreased vision can also result from amblyopia, strabismus, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal or optic nerve disease, or other medical problems. And children aren't simply little adults. Their visual systems are still developing.
My training wasn't simply about measuring vision or prescribing glasses. I was trained first as a physician and eye surgeon, and then specifically trained to diagnose and treat eye disease and abnormal visual development in children. That is the perspective I bring to every examination.
