Esotropia
Presentation
Andrea was first noted to have a small inward eye deviation (esotropia) at age seven. At that time, the misalignment was mild and appropriate for observation.
By age eleven, her strabismus progressed and became larger and constant. The change in alignment was noticeable and no longer intermittent, making surgical correction a reasonable option.
Treatment
Andrea underwent strabismus surgery, spending less than one hour in the operating room. The procedure was directed at restoring eye alignment in primary gaze and was completed without complication.
Outcome
Postoperative photographs show straight eyes when looking straight ahead, with a natural and balanced appearance. Andrea recovered smoothly.
Clinical Considerations
As with all strabismus surgery, there is a known risk of recurrence over time. Continued follow‑up allows alignment to be monitored and addressed if needed.
