When Alison first visited, she had a juicy chalazion of her upper eyelid. She did a great job of using hot compresses (along with a short course of an antibiotic/steroid ointment), and the chalazion mostly resorbed. However, it did not go away completely… Over the next 9 months, it fluctuated in size and would occasionally drain through the skin. Alison’s parents grew tired of this non-resolving issue and, after about a year, decided to have Alison join Dr. Lichtenstein in the operating room to “take care” of it. During the 3-minute procedure, Dr. Lichtenstein made a tiny incision in the skin overlying the chalazion and then carefully trimmed off the thin, abnormal skin. One week later, much improved. 15 months later, visiting for a different issue, it’s hard to see there was ever a stubborn juicy pimple!
