Daryl was referred at age 2 with severe drooping of both upper eyelids. His eyelids blocked much of his visual world, forcing him to hold his chin up and recruit his forehead muscles simply to see.

I repaired both eyelids using silicone frontalis slings, a procedure that allows the forehead muscles to help elevate the eyelids when the natural lifting muscles are too weak.

One year later, his eyelids are in a much better position and his head posture is considerably more natural. Children should be exploring their world, not struggling to keep it in view.
