Presentation
Tommy was born with a small lump above his left eyebrow that gradually increased in size over time. When he was five years old, his family brought him to see Dr. Lichtenstein for evaluation.
Treatment
Tommy underwent a brief outpatient procedure in which the dermoid cyst was carefully removed through a discreet incision just above the eyebrow. The surgery took approximately one hour and was completed without complication.
Outcome
Before‑and‑after photographs demonstrate a very good cosmetic result. The incision healed well and is now difficult to see. Tommy recovered smoothly and has no recollection of the procedure.
Additional Findings
Tommy also has a mild outward eye alignment (exotropia). Because it does not affect his visual function or daily activities, no treatment is indicated at this time. If his needs or preferences change in the future, correction remains an option.
